For the past few weeks, Joe Perry has been on a quest to fill the shoes of former Aerosmith front man, Steven Tyler. It has been reported that both Billy Idol and Paul Rodgers have been asked to join the band, but neither seem enthusiastic about the proposition. Classic Rock Magazine reported that a third singer was added to the list of possibilities, a Mr. Chris Cornell.

Tyler revealed to Classic Rock he wanted to take a break from the band, and Joe Perry later told the Las Vegas Sun, “Steven quit as far as I can tell.” The back-and-forth climaxed last week when Tyler showed up unannounced at Perry’s solo club gig in New York and proclaimed: “I am not leaving Aerosmith.”

Aerosmith has survived drugs, departures, divorces and discord since the rock ‘n’ roll bad boys formed 40 years ago. But guitarist Joe Perry does not know if the band will overcome its latest troubles, and is forging ahead with his own ambitious touring and recording plans.

Joe Perry has denied rumors that the band are about to split up by saying a new album “will happen”. Perry, who hasn’t spoken to singer Steven Tyler since he fell off the stage in August, was “upset” that the band had to cancel their North American tour, but has dismissed rumors of the veterans splitting.

Due to injuries STEVEN TYLER sustained last week when he fell from the stage during a concert in Sturgis, SD, doctors have advised the lead singer to take the time to properly recuperate from the accident that resulted in a broken shoulder and stitches to his head. In his current condition, TYLER is unable to tour and the band wants to give him time to get healthy.
