Rob Zombie’s latest film brought Halloween back to August with his much anticipated release, Halloween II. Halloween II, a sequel to his remake of the 1978 classic John Carpenter film, failed to meet its box office expectations. But Rob Zombies films, like House of a 1000 Corpses have a tendency to build cult followings. His original remake ranks fourth among all Halloween films although it was also panned by critics. Rob Zombie will be taking a break from films for a while. And after turning down a chance to direct Halloween 3D, Rob Zombie will return to his roots. Music.
Rob Zombie has been, and will be promoting his new movie for the next few weeks but one can’t help but see his excitement for the new album. His latest album is untitled, but finished, and is waiting for the movie hype to die down before its planned November release. With the panned critical success and a less then overwhelming box office weekend for Halloween II, maybe we’ll see an early release of Zombies new disc.
On the Jimmy Kimmel show, Zombie talked about his new movie but also confirmed the release of the new album, and a national tour. Dates and cities have yet to be announced. In an interview with Artisannews.com Rob Zombie guitarist John 5 spoke praises of the new album. Stating that it was “unbelievable,” and “his best work.” This could be similar hype to that which surrounded the release of Halloween II. But one has to be more prone to believe that Rob Zombie’s return to the music stage will be triumphant. Rumored titles for the new Rob Zombie release are “Jesus Frankenstein,” and “Sick Bubblegum,” according to MTV.com.
However, sources tell us that Rob Zombie has been tagged to remake the 1958 horror film, The Blog.
