Interscope Releases Marilyn Manson From Label

Interscope, records, Marilyn Manson, music, Label, tainted love

Manson’s last album, The High End of Low, didn’t do as well as he, or his record company Interscope had hoped. It isn’t clear if that is the reason behind the split, but Manson, and his long time record company will be parting ways.

After debuting at number four, The High End of Low went on to record the lowest record sales for Manson in over a decade. But perhaps it’s good news for the aging shock rocker.

Manson says that his “creative output has been squashed,” by his former recording label, and this split will give him the creative freedom that he needs.

Trent Reznor, who once worked for Interscope, and was actually the one who brought Manson on board, has seen a lot of success after he freed himself from the chains of all major labels.

Perhaps Marilyn will embrace the change and start releasing records again that live up to his shocking reputation.

“I think my life definitely ended and began. The record sounds very final, but it’s almost optimistic — though that feels like a strange word to use. It’s a phoenix from the fire and a redemption resurrection,” says Manson.

The split from Interscope, and the creative freedom now granted to Manson creates a high level of expectations for his next album. Will an unchained Manson be as dangerous as we all hope for him to be?
