Idol, Rodgers, Cornell? Aerosmith Seek Tyler’s Replacement

Idol, Rodgers, Chris Cornell, Aerosmith, Steven Tyler Replacement, joe perry

For the past few weeks, Joe Perry has been on a quest to fill the shoes of former Aerosmith front man, Steven Tyler. It has been reported that both Billy Idol and Paul Rodgers have been asked to join the band, but neither seem enthusiastic about the proposition. Classic Rock Magazine reported that a third singer was added to the list of possibilities, a Mr. Chris Cornell.

Cornell, however, seemed to immediately recognize the absolute absurdity of him singing “Sweet Emotion” from a bandanna clad microphone. Cornell said he was committed to a Sound Garden reunion, although he probably wouldn’t have taken the job anyways.

So Perry sets out again in search of a new singer. Whoever he finds, I hope that he decides to change the name of the band as well. Since 1984 the band has maintained the same line up. It’s far too late in the game to continue with new members. Aeorosmith just isn’t Aeorosmith without Tyler, just as it wouldn’t be Aeorsmith without Perry, Kramer, Whitford, or Hamilton.

I mean, do we call Guns and Roses GnR without Slash? Well, yeah, I guess we do, but it always comes off a little sarcastic.
