Anberlin, Feel Good Drag, music, xtreme, stephen christian, All American Rejects, Taking Back Sunday

The song was originally recorded as “The Feel Good Drag,” for Anberlin’s second album Never Take Friendship Personal, but was rerecorded for their latest release, New Surrender.

The song spent 29 weeks on the alternative charts before it finally crawled up to the number one spot. This is the longest it has ever taken a song to rise to the top since the chart began in 1988.

The slow rise might be due to the fact that some fans were reluctant to rejoice at the re-release of “Feel Good Drag,” while others seem to be hung up on the bands Christian label. But the fact is the song is irresistible. It’s hard, loud, and lyrically poignant.

Stephen Christian, the singer of Anberlin, says that they rerecorded the song because they didn’t feel it got the attention it deserved on Never Take Friendship Personal. And now, with a major label backing the consistently rising rock outfit, they find themselves with a number one single to lead off their album.

The band has recently released a deluxe version of New Surrender which includes B-sides, a couple of covers, an acoustic version of “Feel Good Drag,” and a half hour DVD from their recent Australian Tour.

They are Currently touring the states with All American Rejects, and Taking Back Sunday.
